Media & Entertainment

Eiger represents clients in all types of art, media, gaming and entertainment law matters. We assist corporate, institutional and individual collectors, plus gaming, entertainment, and media companies in intellectual property, authenticity disputes, and the organization of both public and private events.

Art transactions consist of contract drafting and advice related to the auction, sale and purchase of major artworks, and the full range of international commercial matters for major global travelling and special exhibitions. Major work includes assisting a famous German exhibition developer and promoter in a full spectrum of services, including import permits, and applying for licenses with government agencies, lease agreements for exhibition halls, work permits for foreign staff, foreign company recognition, and tax matters. This transaction covered aspects in both mainland China and Taiwan, and included negotiations with state-sponsored museums. Other projects have included work on behalf of major international museums, including commercial and dispute-resolution matters.

Eiger’s Media & Entertainment work runs across the full range of issues for publishers, film studios, video-game producers, broadcasters, online-content providers, advertising companies, reporters, authors, agents, individuals and other parties. Notable projects include regional coordination of intellectual property and commercial matters for a large studio and its internationally known proprietary animated characters’ CDs and DVDs, advising a global advertising agency on a full range of content issues, and work on behalf of a major social-networking site to analyze and handle allegations of defamation and IP infringement. Dispute matters have involved copyright litigation in PRC courts regarding the unauthorized biography of a Greater China celebrity, and dealing with plagiarizing and various matters related to publishing as a highly regulated industry in China. Eiger regularly works with some of the world’s best-known video game companies to provide commercial and regulatory advice.
